Rumour has it that the new OnePlus flagship, the OnePlus 3 will be released after around one week of its announcement, that is May 18. Now we have seen great phones from OnePlus like the OnePlus 2, the phone came with a beautiful screen and a brilliantly low price, but there are plenty of things that could have been done better.
So, with the new flagship from OnePlus coming soon, what is there to expect from it? Will it be similar to its predecessor or will it be way better than it? well, we cannot answer those questions just yet but what we can do is give you the rumours ,expectations and features there are to know about the OnePlus 3. Design and Display
There were a lot of similarities in the design of OnePlus and OnePlus 2 but it has been confirmed that the OnePlus 3 will sport a new look and design.The OnePlus 3 is expected to have a 5 inch 1080p screen which is actually downsized from the 5.5 inch screen the OnePlus 2 featured. A metal body and fingerprint sensor have both been speculated, both of which are supported by images leaked on a Chinese social network.
The OnePlus 2 introduced a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C so it would make sense to include both of these on the OnePlus 3. There are also rumours the OnePlus 3 could not feature a fingerprint scanner. A lack of fingerprint sensor could suggest other methods of identification like iris recognition but we can’t see this happening for the OnePlus 3 as this would more than likely increase the cost, which is something we don’t think OnePlus will want to do.
Cameras
The OnePlus 3 will come with a 15 mega-pixel rear camera capable of 4K video recording and a 7 mega-pixel front camera, capable of Full HD video recording. The rear camera is also thought to have autofocus, face detection, HDR and touch focus. We’d take this with a pinch of salt for now though.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see OnePlus up the mega-pixels on the front camera for the OnePlus 3 as the OnePlus X has a higher resolution than the OnePlus 2 and a few changes to the rear would make sense too, although we don’t think it will be anything too drastic. The OnePlus 2 performed well so OnePlus might not find it necessary to change too much for the OnePlus 3.
Specs and software
It is rumoured that OnePlus 3 will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which makes perfect sense. The rumour also includes that the OnePlus 3 will come in three models comprising a 32GB version with 3 GB of RAM, a 64 GB version with 6 GB or RAM and a 128 GB model with 4 GB of RAM. This seems a little odd though.
If this turns out to be true, that will mean an end to the 16 GB OnePlus model. The source who claimed this said the 32 GB version will cost a similar amount to what the 16 GB OnePlus 2 did though, so you shouldn’t expect a big increase in price. Android Marshmallow is a certainty at this point and it will feature a Dual-core 2.15 GHz Kryo & dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo.
Battery
In terms of battery, we would expect at least a 3300 mAh battery capacity like the OnePlus 2, if not slightly larger, but the company may have something else up its sleeve too. Last year’s OnePlus 2 lacked a wireless charging option, as well as a quick-charge mode. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip that the OnePlus 3 is rumoured to be coming with supports Quick Charge 3.0, but these are just rumours and the end result could be anything.
Price and release date
The big selling point for OnePlus is the price. The OnePlus 2 cost £239 (US$329) so we’d expect a similar price point for the OnePlus 3.
One source even claimed it could be even cheaper at around £210 ( US$310). We’ll have to wait until the official announcement to know for sure though.
The OnePlus 3 could be available by late June and the official announcement will take place on May 18.
