There are several reasons why your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 may not boot properly. Most of the times it is the software which is the cause of the Operating System boot failure. But at times, the hardware failure may also result in failure to boot the Android on your Note 8.

What is Bootloop?
>> If your phone turns on while holding the power button and looks like it will boot into the Android operating system but will fail to do so and reboots to the same screen time and again, it is called Bootloop.

If your phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in this case, is stuck in bootloop, the phone will keep restarting but will never reach the home screen.

Also, at times, the Note 8 may get stuck in a screen which says Android is starting in in a screen which says Optimizing apps xxx out of xxx. It usually happens when you are updating the phone to the latest version of Android or if you are trying to install a custom firmware. And since it is a software issue, it can be easily fixed and recovered.

Before we get started, let’s get out the hardware symptoms out of the way. This post won’t be of any help if it’s a hardware issue.

# Hardware Issue

  • If you dropped your Galaxy Note 8 and the phone shut off automatically and if you tried to turn it on, if the phone reboots, chances are you will need to take the phone to the service center. Also, if the phone gets stuck on the  “Samsung Galaxy Note 8: Powered by Android“, it may be a hardware failure rather than software failure.
  • If you put the Note 8 in charge and when you come to pick it up and find the phone is stuck on the boot screen, it may be a hardware problem where the phone has drawn too much power and there’s a problem in the motherboard. It mostly happens when you use a 3rd party charger especially if it’s a non-brand charger. I had it happen on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and it cost around $250 to replace the motherboard.
  • Believe it or not, if the can somehow get water inside your Samsung Galaxy Note 8, you may face the same problem. Either the phone will not turn at all and if it does, if you are unlucky, the phone may get stuck on the “Samsung Galaxy Note 8: Powered by Android” screen.

These are the main reasons for the hardware failure and chances are you will need to send the phone to the Samsung authorized service center to get the phone fixed. If not, it’s probably the software that is screwed up and can be fixed.

#Fix 1: The Easy Fix [Entering the Safe Mode]

  1. Switch off the Samsung Galaxy Note 8
  2. Switch on the Note 8 by holding the Power button and keep holding it until “Samsung” logo shows up.

  5. Keep holding the Volume down key until the device restarts.
  6. You are now in the Safe mode.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe mode written on the screen.

If your phone successfully loads, now you know that it is the third-party apps which are causing the phone from not booting up. From here on, you can uninstall any suspicious files which you think is causing the bootloop on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

You can use the hit-and-trial method wherein you try deleting some apps and restarting the Note 8 in normal mode. And when the target app is uninstalled, your phone will boot with no issue. I recently had one of the entry-level smartphone, the OBI MV1, stuck in bootloop because it was incompatible with the most recent version of Facebook. It may sound strange, but it is true.
